SC Johnson Professional has announced the grand prize winners of its Happy Hands dispenser design contest. The contest promotes the importance of handwashing to students by asking them to create a design encouraging hand hygiene, to be featured on SC Johnson Professional dispensers.

The elementary school (K-5) category winner is Ariel G., a 3rd grader at W.J.C. Trapp Elementary School, in Rialto, CA. The winner of the middle/high school (6-12) category is Sophia M., a 10th grader at Waterford Union High School, in Waterford, WI.

Both winning students will receive a $300 general-use gift card, and their schools will each receive a $1,000 donation. Additionally, the winning school systems will receive up to 1,000 manual soap/sanitizer dispensers for their schools featuring each respective student’s winning design.

“It was incredible to see our community rally around Sophia and come through on voting for her intricate design,” Dan Foster, principal, Waterford Union High School, said. “Her words, ‘We All Thrive When We Sanitize,’ are a great message for everyone. Our school had a fantastic time participating in this year’s SC Johnson Professional Happy Hands contest.”

SC Johnson Professional received a record number of registrants in this year’s contest. Each of the designs submitted were evaluated for visual appeal, overall design, unique design elements and creativity. Five finalists in both grade level categories were selected by a judging panel and then went to a public vote throughout the month of February.

“Our students loved getting involved in this year’s Happy Hands contest, and we’re so proud of Ariel for being named a winner in the K-5 category,” Berenice Gutierrez, principal, W.J.C. Trapp Elementary School, said. “Combining creativity with the importance of hand hygiene is an excellent reminder for us all to help keep each other safe.”
