Innovative Tork Solutions Are Recognized Globally – At The 2022 ISSA Show North America And Interclean Amsterdam

Tork®, an Essity brand, is a recent recipient of the ISSA Innovation Industry Choice Award (Facility Service Providers category) for the company’s Tork Clarity Hand Washing Foam Soap. The announcement was made at the conclusion of the 2022 ISSA Show North America, in Chicago, IL (Oct. 10-13). That achievement followed the Tork Biobased Heavy-Duty Cleaning Cloth being named both the overall winner, as well as Sustainability & Environment category winner, of the Amsterdam Innovation Award. The latter announcement was made during Interclean Amsterdam, which took place earlier in the year.

Tork Clarity Hand Washing Foam Soap was developed with the environment in mind, and is made with 99% ingredients from natural origin (1), and is biodegradable(2). The soap’s formulation is both gentle to the skin, and has a lower impact on aquatic life.(3) The product’s refill bottles are collapsible, helping reduce waste volume by 70%.(4) To help businesses secure sustainability accreditations, Tork Clarity Hand Washing Foam Soap also holds four trusted certifications, including Green Seal, EcoLogo, NSF E1, and is a USDA Certified BioBased product.

“We are proud that Tork Clarity Hand Washing Foam Soap received this recognition at the ISSA Show this year,” Don Lewis, President of Professional Hygiene at Essity, said. “Sustainability is deeply integrated in our innovation process, and we are always looking for new ways to deliver greater hygiene, efficiency and sustainability benefits to our customers.  The industry-recognized Tork Clarity Hand Washing Foam Soap is just one example of many that demonstrates how we work with our customers to improve their business performance, while minimizing their environmental impact.”

Meanwhile, the award-winning Tork Biobased Heavy-Duty Cleaning Cloth is 99% biobased, and is designed for multipurpose usage — lowering the environmental impact within industry and food service environments while improving efficiency.

According to judges at the Amsterdam Innovation Award competition: “With the development of this new cloth, Essity is aiming to reduce consumption, waste, pollution and emissions. The fact the packaging is made from 100% recycled fibers, and at least 30% recycled plastics, completes the sustainability picture for the customer.”

“Sustainability has become a significant factor in customer choices,” Anna Königson Koopmans, Marketing Director of Public Interest for Essity’s professional hygiene business, said. “The winning Tork cloth is designed to maximize efficiency and deliver greater sustainability, while maintaining rigorous performance standards. We are proud to be the overall and a category winner, involving this year’s Amsterdam Innovation Award.”

The Tork Biobased Heavy-Duty Cleaning Cloth provides improved performance for absorption, durability, linting and solvent consumption, according to Essity. In addition, the cloth is interfolded for easier and faster access and one-at-a-time dispensing. Customers only touch what they take, reducing waste and cross-contamination.

Among other key products, programs and news highlighted at Tork’s ISSA booth were:

n Tork® Odor-Control Hand Washing Liquid Soap, designed to remove greasy residues and tough food odors from hands. Fragrance-, color- and gluten-free, the soap is specially developed for professional chefs and the food industry. It’s also gentle to the skin and compatible with manual and automatic Tork Skincare dispensers. The product’s sealed bottle reduces the risk of cross-contamination, and collapses as its content is used, helping to reduce product waste.

n Tork Talks, a program featuring experts in hygiene, who shared their knowledge through a series of 15-minute presentations during the 2022 ISSA Show.

Topics included:

  • Making the grade in infection prevention with hand hygiene;
