Ray LeBlanc, Longtime Cleaning Goods Supplier And Broomcorn Expert, Dies At 77
Ray LeBlanc, a longtime broomcorn dealer and cleaning goods supplier, died on April 3, 2025, at the age of 77, with his wife of 47 years, Malgosia Maria, by his side.
LeBlanc’s strong work ethic was evident from an early age. He graduated college in just 3 1/2 years, earning a double major in chemistry and mathematics, all while working full time. After graduating, he spent 10 years at DuPont before taking the reins as the second-generation owner of the National Broomcorn Company (later renamed PelRay International).
For 40 years, he worked alongside his business partner, Bart Pelton, traveling the world to buy and sell broomcorn, cotton mop fibers, handles, and more. LeBlanc’s dedication, depth of knowledge and integrity were known throughout the industry, and many of those who worked with him became lifelong friends.
LeBlanc lived a vibrant, adventurous, and faith-filled life, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew him. Among his many passions were acrobatic flying, race car driving, and his remarkable work in international business. Known for his adventurous spirit and talent for storytelling, he delighted friends and family with his humor and larger-than-life tales.
He is survived by his wife, Malgosia Maria; his three children, Peter, Maya, and John; his three cherished grandchildren, with a fourth on the way; and his siblings, Jerry, Sid, and Mary. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rudy and Mary, his brother Michael, and his sister Theresa.
A funeral Mass was held at Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church in Draper, UT. Memorial donations may be made to Franciscan Missions (franciscanmissions.org) or to St. Labre Indian School.
